Khronos JSON in. Wavefront mesh out.
Use this when the destination is an old OBJ importer and the source is packed glTF. You lose PBR. You keep faces. If you still need a web file, convert glTF to GLB instead of this route.

Packed .gltf, target OBJ, drop, download. MTL is not written.
1
Source is glTF. The File API reads it in this tab. Nothing is posted. Keep it under 80 MB.
2
Faces go to OBJ text. Maps stay behind.
3
Open in the DCC. Do not expect chrome or baked maps on the OBJ.
This page is only glTF → OBJ. Other pairs have their own keep and lose notes so they do not repeat this conversion.
| On this conversion | What happens |
|---|---|
| Keeps | Mesh geometry. |
| Drops | PBR, textures, clips, and the JSON scene pack. |
| Next step | Import OBJ in the DCC. For print, use glTF to STL. |
| Attribute | Result on the reference scene |
|---|---|
| Separate objects | Kept as 2 |
| UV coordinates | Kept |
| Vertex colour | Lost |
| Material names | Kept |
| Vertices on the reference scene | 72 of 48 |
| Mesh | Source | OBJ | Change | Vertices written |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| mug.glb | 880 KB | 4,928 KB | 5.6x | 150,000 |

glTF as the source: Geometry only. Color and clips are dropped. Measured 2026-08-27 by running this converter’s own loaders and exporters headlessly. How every format was measured.
glTF is parsed with the File API. OBJ is written in memory. PBR, textures, clips, and the JSON scene pack. That is a format rule, not an upload. Files over 80 MB are refused because RAM is the limit.

Packed .gltf, target OBJ, drop, download. MTL is not written. No Blender and no account.
GLB if the next step is web or AR. OBJ if a desktop app only has an OBJ importer. They are different jobs.
No. This tool writes geometry. Keep the glTF or GLB for lookdev.
No. glTF is parsed here and OBJ is written in memory. There is no convert API.
Yes. Open the glTF viewer if you only need to orbit. Convert when the next tool actually wants OBJ.
Import OBJ in the DCC. For print, use glTF to STL.
