Research and scan meshes in the tab.
PLY (Polygon File Format) shows up in photogrammetry, research dumps, and some scanners. This viewer draws the mesh with a default material. Vertex color can survive. Full PBR texture sets will not. Use it to see whether the scan is a mesh you can convert, not as a substitute for MeshLab.

Drop binary or ASCII PLY. If you see an empty canvas, the file may be points only without faces.
1
Point clouds without faces will fail. Export a mesh from the scan tool first.
2
Some PLY files keep it. PBR texture sets will not appear in this viewer.
3
Convert PLY to STL for print, or PLY to GLB for a default-material web look.
Scans often start as PLY. Print shops often want STL. This page lets you look before you convert and lose extra channels.
| Topic | PLY | STL |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | Scans, research, some DCC dumps | Slicers and print bureaus |
| Vertex color | Can survive | Dropped |
| PBR textures | Not in this viewer | Not in STL |
| Next file | Convert PLY to STL to print | Keep STL if the slicer already accepts it |
A PLY of loose points with no faces will fail the mesh check. Export a meshed PLY from the scan tool first.
Photogrammetry files can be identifying. This viewer never posts the PLY. It parses in the tab and draws with WebGL, then drops the buffers when you leave.

Point and mesh interchange. Vertex color can survive. No PBR textures. Binary PLY on export.
A point cloud without faces is not a mesh. Export a meshed PLY from the scan tool, then drop it again.
Sometimes, when the PLY stored it. PBR texture sets from a GLB will not appear. Convert PLY to GLB only for a default-material web file.
Keep PLY while you still care about extra channels. Convert PLY to STL when a bureau or slicer demands triangles only.
No. Photogrammetry files are parsed in this tab. There is no model upload.
Yes. Convert when you know the next tool: STL for print, GLB for web.
Viewing is free. Convert PLY to STL for a slicer, or to GLB for a default-material web preview.
