Scan mesh in. Wavefront out.
Use this when a desktop app wants OBJ and the source is a meshed PLY. Print shops usually want PLY to STL instead.

Meshed PLY, target OBJ, drop, download .obj.
1
Source is PLY. The File API reads it in this tab. Nothing is posted. Keep it under 80 MB.
2
OBJ text from the PLY faces.
3
Open in the DCC. Use PLY to STL if you meant to print.
This page is only PLY → OBJ. Other pairs have their own keep and lose notes so they do not repeat this conversion.
| On this conversion | What happens |
|---|---|
| Keeps | Faces as OBJ. |
| Drops | PLY-specific extras the OBJ writer does not keep. |
| Next step | DCC import. Print via PLY to STL. |
| Attribute | Result on the reference scene |
|---|---|

| UV coordinates | Kept |
| Vertex colour | Lost |

PLY as the source: Geometry only. Color and clips are dropped. Measured 2026-08-27 by running this converter’s own loaders and exporters headlessly. How every format was measured.
PLY is parsed with the File API. OBJ is written in memory. PLY-specific extras the OBJ writer does not keep. That is a format rule, not an upload. Files over 80 MB are refused because RAM is the limit.

Meshed PLY, target OBJ, drop, download .obj. No Blender and no account.
OBJ for desktop modelers. STL for slicers.
Do not count on it. This writer is geometry-first.
No. PLY is parsed here and OBJ is written in memory. There is no convert API.
Yes. Open the PLY viewer if you only need to orbit. Convert when the next tool actually wants OBJ.
DCC import. Print via PLY to STL.
