Scan mesh in. Slicer file out.
The print path for a meshed scan. Faces become binary STL. Vertex color and research fields do not go to the printer. Point clouds without faces fail. Repair is still your job if the slicer wants a solid.

Meshed PLY, target STL, preview the hull, download binary STL.

Source is PLY. The File API reads it in this tab. Nothing is posted. Keep it under 80 MB.
2
Binary STL from the PLY mesh.

Open in the slicer. Check scale.
This page is only PLY → STL. Other pairs have their own keep and lose notes so they do not repeat this conversion.
| On this conversion | What happens |
|---|---|
| Keeps | Triangles for the slicer. |
| Drops | Vertex color and PLY extras. |
| Next step | Slice. Keep the PLY if you still need those extra channels. |

PLY as the source: Geometry only. Color and clips are dropped. Measured 2026-08-27 by running this converter’s own loaders and exporters headlessly. How every format was measured.
PLY is parsed with the File API. STL is written in memory. Vertex color and PLY extras. That is a format rule, not an upload. Files over 80 MB are refused because RAM is the limit.

When the bureau or slicer demands STL and you still have a meshed PLY from the scan.
No. STL has no reliable color. Keep the PLY for that.
No. PLY is parsed here and STL is written in memory. There is no convert API.
Yes. Open the PLY viewer if you only need to orbit. Convert when the next tool actually wants STL.
Slice. Keep the PLY if you still need those extra channels.
